Finally decided to change out my fuel filter today after my LUV quit running a few times. Thought I would post the pics of the filter after opening it up for everyone to see how much crap can accumulate in one. This does not include the crap that fell out of the line! So it does pay to check out the fuel filter as one of the first things on a troubleshooting list.
Sorry for the grainy picture as the Mrs. won't let me use the good camera.

Almost looks like you need to pull the tank and clean it...

Thanks for the tip! Where on the truck is the fuel filter? Under the cab, about 6 inches back?

I did pull the tank and clean it out. After letting the remaining gas evaporate and the tank dry completely, I tossed some nuts and bolts in and rolled it over and over. The amount of rust that came out filled up a small cup. With any luck I should be past that fuel filter problem. I have a square 15 gallon (approx) plastic tank for my '53 Ford I might put on it next summer. Just don't want to lose the spare tire if I have to mount it behind the rear axle.
Yes the filter is located on the frame right behind the drivers side of the cab. My truck is a stepside so I don't know if it was relocated or not.

I use a dual filter set-up. The one located on the frame just as it come out of the gas tank and then one in line right before the fuel line goes into the carb and I have never had any problems.
