No biggie, easiest way I have found is pull the grill, radiator, and then pull the pump. Not much to it. Flush the system put in new anti freeze, good to go.

Hmm... why did you pull the grill? I just drained the radiator, pulled it out, and then pulled to water pump.
I was working on an '80. Were you working on a different series? That might be the difference.

I took off the hood first.. made things waaaaaay easier for my big ass..
yeah, took off the hood, the radiator, unhooked hoses, and moved the alternator a little.. No biggie, except for a stupid bolt which refused to come out, if not it would have been super easy.. :D

Alright... understandable. lol, 6'1", and I can grab tools from the opposite side of the truck, but when I have to work under the dash, things get a little tight.
To each his own, right?

On stupid bolts that refuse to come out: try tightening it just a little, like maybe 1/32 of a turn. Sometimes it breaks the threads loose. lol, an impact driver usually works quite well too.

A little about water pumps: Duralast= bad, NAPA= good. The Duralast one has a sheetmetal impeller, while the NAPA one is cast iron. I learned this one after the 4th time I pulled the whole shebang apart... lol, got it down to under an hour though!
