Blue: The quoted $38 AC/Heater fan motor price I was given at Schucks was too good to be true. I talked to the assistant manager today and the true price turned out to be $117. Supposedly, if you don't want to pay for a new squirrel cage, the price will drop to $65. If that sucker I fixed starts acting up, I'll spring for a new one.

Is the original one working? Did you get it back in?

Yeah, it's in and running great. But as thin as the commutator segments are, I don't know how much life is left in the thing. Talked to the owner of an electrical motor repair shop the other day, and he said it's just a way the manufacturers cheap out to keep the prices down and therefore competitive. Usually if the comutator is worn down, the brushes are, too. Not in this thing. The brushes are good and long. About 7/16's of an inch.
