Just want some opinions here. Louisiana does not have smog testing and I am NOT getting rid of this LUV. Should I remove the smog pump and associated hardware or leave it all in place? So far I have been told I will NOT be dropping a bigger engine in it and can only upgrade the 4-banger within reason as time and finances permit. Let me know what you think....
If I pull it and anyone needs it, let me know. Since it just came from California and was driven almost daily, it must be working.

Personally, since it is a driver, I would hang onto it as smog inspections are sure to come to us all eventually...

Keep the hardware, labeled and boxed. You just don't know where the gov is gonna go. It will cost a lot if you and others end up having to go and scare up those parts if the enviromentalist get there way. There are a lot of people that are gullible about the so called global warming theory.

IMHO I took all the smog stuff off my 79, it starts easier, runs better I'm sure all the old hoses leaking vacuum robbed power. I guess if you wanted to keep it "legal" you could replace that stuff.

Yep the wife told me to keep it!
I mean after careful deliberation through a very deep thought process, I have contemplated keeping it vs discarding it. Many of your thoughts were added to the mix and it will be presereved and boxed for any unforseen situations.
That' my answer and I'm sticking to it!!
