So I thought I'd try putting the guts of an electronic distributor from a 1.5 imark into my distributor to see if it would work. Everything swaps except you can't screw in the module and the spot for the wires to go is too far to the left. But everything else switches and, in concept, the insides should still work but you do need a different case because I don't think you could modify the existing distributor enough.

On a side note I put my distributor back together and now my truck is stranded. I drove it to my friends without any problems and hooked everything back up the way it's supposed to but i can't get it to start. It turns over but if I take the key off it dies. It's like it's not getting any electrical power but there's only one frickin' wire. I dropped it off at a mechanics place but won't hear anything until tomorrow. I and my engineering friend are clueless to what it is. Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreaciated especially since they're charging 100 bucks to diagnose the problem.

Sounds like a bad resister and it will run on the start mode if so you can bypass it and get it home but it will need changed as it will burn up the points with out it.

thanks, it turns out that was the problem but I wasn't able to call the mechanic on time so I got stuck with a 112 buck charge for him to tell me exactly that.
