Got another one for you guys. I have a loud howl coming from my tranny or rear end. I am leaning more towards the tranny. It only makes the howl when i am on the gas. If I let off the gas it goes away instantly. So it only happens when power is being transmitted to the rear end. It is loudest @ 55mph if I get above 60 or so it goes away. If it was the rearend wouldn't it howl the whole time, not just when I am on the gas? My friend said it is probably the output shaft bearing. Any help is appreciated as always.

its more than likely the rear axle. all of mine made that sound before it quit.

it howls when your on the gas, because the slack is taken up between the gears - when you let off they loosen up ending the howl.

same here, had to change the carrier because of my pinion angle wore it out
