ok i have a 79 4wd 1.8l g180 with a 4 speed and i also have a 76 2wd 1.8 g180 with an automatic. no matter which way i match this all up it will all interchange, correct? I believe the 4wd frame would need to keep the 4wd oil pan but is that it? Just wanting to make sure...

It should all interchange. The automatic will have a flex plate instead of a flywheel but other than that and the oil pan for the 4x4 its compatible. The carb for the automatic will also have a hook up for a kick down cable but those parts can be swapped around between carbs.

reason i ask is the 79 4wd has a 4 speed that was recently rebuilt but the g180 in it is seized. On the 76 2wd the g180 is good but it has an automatic hooked up to it now. so what i was thinking is taking the g180 from the 76 2wd and mounting to the 4 speed and putting it all in the 79 4wd and selling a running 4wd for more cash for the 2wd project. Thanks for the confirm. The 76 is going to end up getting a sbc. So I will have an extra auto that mounts to the g180 for sale cheap as well people.

When you go to swap out the two make sure to keep the sandwich plates that go in between the motor and trans with each transmission, they are different thicknesses. Im pretty sure the auto has the thinner one and the manual has the thicker plate.
