Ok, I posted the same time you did. The weber is supposed to be adjusted with the choke plate wedged open. i used a LARGE piece of rubber hose to keep them open. You want something so large the engine can't eat it. Then you adjust the idle and air/fuel mixture till it runs the best. Not sure about the choke, mine never needed adjusted.

Humm..Sounds kinda funny that it runs great one time , and shit the next. Sure sounds like you could be having electrical problems. Ask Ben about ballast resistors. This could be it! :)

The ballast resister I got from autozone wasnt for the chevy luv because they dont carry those anymore so he gave me another one, he asked me if I just wanted to drop the voltage and I said yah so he gave me that one. Is there a way to test the points to see if there still working. Shane

I fried the resistor they sold me at autozone. I would try to get the stock replacement at napa or try the dealer.

to check the points, take off the distributer cap and any other bullshit in the way so you can see the points, then get someone to turn the motor over, look at the points and they should be sparking, if there not try and clean them, reset the gap (about the width of a hacksaw blade) or check for any electrical faults

humm kind sounds like what was happening to mine when the stock distrubutor took a dump on me. I would clean and regap the points, replace the condenser and also get a ballast resitor from Napa. If you cant find one i have one from Napa in the shop i think i could send it to you for the cost of postage. As for the overheating, i had a big problem whith this, my radiator was plugged up perty good. I took it into a radiator shop and had it rebuilt, $75 and it runs below 190* al the time now :) Good luck man, dont give up the luv is a legend its up to us to keep it alive

I actually put in a Jeep Mail Truck radiator since I could not find one anywhere around here.

I put it in and I can run down the street at 90 Miles an hour with out it ever getting half warm.

Guess what bro, you have a vacuum leak!

As someone who has spent a hideous amount of time on his LUV truck, and has personally removed 3 engines 8 times from the engine bay, I can tell you, it CAN be the most reliable truck you own, but you HAVE to HAVE patience.

My Weber wiggled half loose, so i had a huge vacuum leak, and didn't notice it for a long time.

Also, take the top off of your Weber and make SURe that clip that clips the floats to the needle valve for the gas is IN PLACE. If not, it will cause you ALL SORTS of bizarre problems.

Check your ignition coil resistor, also. It's cheap at autozone, like 4 bucks. My truck had spark and wouldn't start, I took the valvecover off because it would not start to check the valve timing. It was the ballast resistor....

Millions of things have gone wrong with my truck bro, it sucks but once you get it figured out you will have a nice truck. My truck is a daily driver and it gets more direvtrain wear in a day than most LUV truck will see in 6 months, and i am NOT EXAGGERATING. I live on one of the worst dirt/rock roads, i have to 4x4 my way home and it shakes things loose off of my truck at 3 MPH.

A pair of brand new Gas-Ad-Just kayabe shocks lasted me FOUR DAYS before they blew up, and that was not me driving FAST. I have a leaf spring that is cracked in half, too. My wheel hop is amazing.

Don;t give up, it's always something simple and stupid with these trucks.

But, if you are going to sell it, save me the driver side window, I need one bad.

Hello Shane,
I've have a lot of expirence working on these little 1.8 Isuzu engine. Built quite a few. Try this test and let me about your results. Run the engine until it gets to operating temp with the radiator cap removed. Now remove 1 spark plug at a time and put a threaded hose with the same thread pitch into the plug hole. At the other end of the hose attach it to a air compressor and slowly force compressed air into the cylinder. Watch your hands because the engine might rotate from the air being delivered. Now check for air bubbles coming out around the radiator cap opening. If you see any bubbles then the head gasket or head is no good. The head could be cracked or the gasket may not have sealed correctly. It's very important to check the block for warpage once the head is removed. I believe 2 to 4 thou's is the maximum allowed limit before the block will need to decked/resurfaced. Only a machine shop can tell you if the head is cracked. Let me know what you find.
Mike.
