Hello,

I live in the state of CA. Not by my will, mind you.

I did the Weber DGV upgrade and have been *very* pleased with it.

However, I am worried that it will nto pass smog due to the fact that it has some garbage gauze air filter on it with no heater tube connection on it. (In other words, it will not pass "visual").

I have been scouring junkyards trying to find an aircleaner that will fit the rectangular opening on the top of the carburetor, but I have had no luck. I am thinking about cutting and welding my old stock aircleaner to work with this carb, but that's a lot of work i do not want to do.

I am literally one smog check away from being able to register this vehicle in this state.

My last option is my most undesirable: Put on my Hitachi POS carb, limp it to the smog station, hope it passes, then when I get home, putting all of my DGV stuff back on and taking the smog pump BS off.

Any help and experience you guys can offer me is greatly appreciated.

Dave

One thing you can do legaly is hook up your original equipment as good as you can, then go in and get a Pre-Smog test. Smog shop runs it through without officially recording info, usually for $25 or so.

That way you know how it will do and what to fix to pass the real test. At some shops the guy will try to dial it in to get best readings before actual test. You have all the time you want to fix anything out of whack.

I would do that cab thing, I have done it before on a fullsize Chevy truck. If anyone has a cab for sale, let me know!
