It all depends on the up keep and also if you have rebuilt the engine carb and tranny etc even so your truck will and can be as reliable as you want as long as you take care of it just like any other vehicle sure some problems will arise here and there but you can make it a very reliable daily driver just treat it right. Mine has got tranny and carb and engine rebuilt over time but when i drive it, it just purs adn feels solid.

My 76 still runs like the day my family bought it in 1983. Right now it is parked, but if I needed it, I could boost the battery off and go anywhere.

My LUV has been dead reliable-after the 3rd motor.

The first motor had more slugde in it than a laxative labratory septic tank.

The oil guage read "0" PSI, I thought it was the gauge. The engine ran great until ti blew a headgasket which is when I tor eit down to find out the oil pressure truly was ZERO.

The second motor had a cut breather hose that I did not catch and leaked all its oil out. It broke a timing chain. I scrapped the motor.

This 3rd motor had the oil pan gasket tear laterally and leaked out all its oil. I limped it home putting in a quart every few hundred feet, and it is my daily driver, now. I put in Lucas and Mobile 1 15,000 mile and it does very well.

I also rebuilt this motor the best I could afford. I should have put 2 oversize pistons in it, but i just had it honed and new rings put in. It has been extremely reliable.

My truck got 100 times more reliable when I got rid of the Hitahci carb.

It got 100 times mor ereliable than that when I put on aftermakret high energy ignition in it, too.
