I need to replace the cable for the speedo on my 76 but can't seem to get the housing to release from the meter head. It is old and maybe stuck but I don't want to break something. A bit of advice is desired. Thanks

If I remember correctly, there is a clip you have to squeeze with your fingers to release it from the head.

I found the squeeze clip right off but squeezing it wouldn't release the cable. I kept squeezing and rotating the clip and suddenly it slipped off. Maybe it had to be in exactly the right place or just needed a bit of foreplay

My 75 was treaded

I'd see about taking it loose at the trans and pull the whole cable loose giving you more room up top so you can see along w/ obtaining better tools access.
