New points, cap, rotor, wires and plug? If not, change all of these. How is the ballast resister?

the solution: condincer was bad i swapped out a new one and fired right up
now my problem is my cam sprocket keeps coming loose yes i remembered to torque it the pin slids around and eventually comes out after about 30seconds of running

Do you have all the proper parts for the cam sprocket? There should be a large bolt and a large, thick washer to hold all this tight. Clean any oil residue off the cam face, the sprocket face, and the washer face that contacts the cam sprocket. The pin is only used to time the cam to the sprocket, the cam is driven by the friction of the tightened bolt and washer. Torque is 58 ft lbs as you probably know.-----Hope this helps.
