i just put a new engine in my luv. it is a g180 with a g200 head...so it will have a tad lower compression but oh well. put the engine in minus all the egr stuff. all vacuum lines capped off and air injection holes plugged etc. the engine has no power at all. at first it wouldn't idle but i found a few vacuum leaks and fixed those with all new carb, intake, and egr valve (not the actual valve but the cap i have to plug it off) gaskets. Now it idles just fine....with the choke mostly on At first i was running a weber 32/36, then i switched it out to a 32/34. Then i tore apart the 32/36, cleaned everything out and put it back on. The engine runs the exact same with each carb. when you try to rev it in neutral it revs very very slowly and in gear the top speed it about 10 mph, maybe less. I have checked the filter and pump, the carb is getting plenty of fuel.

any ideas on what might be the problem would be greatly appreciated, the only thing i have done the last three days is work on the luv and read this forum. I'm starting to get a little frustrated.

If you are sure you're getting fuel, and you're sure you don't have a vacuum leak, then I'd look at the timing. The chain could be off a tooth, the distrutor could be out a notch, something to look at.

is your throttle cable hooked up right, is it opening enough. double check your fuel, start with the basics, check for spark at each plug, check your timing with a gun, make sure your timing notch isnt "skipping" adjust your points. Is your accelerator pump wurkin' right? sounds like a vac leak though. try to tighten your manifolds, and carb ect.
good luck, lets see some pics of the truck dude.

Fixed!
I was still getting nowhere, checked to see if my exhaust was clogged...nope. on a hint from a friend i spun the distributor 180 degrees and it still ran.... i checked the order of the wires and sure enough 1-2-4-3 not 1-3-4-2 so it was only running on two cylinders either way. I should have checked that from the get-go instead of trusting the guy i got the engine from, put the dist. back, straightened out the wires and it runs great, literally purrs at idle. still not quite as much power as i would like but i think thats just carb adjustment.

and thank you guys for the quick responses!

so heres what i've done to it overall... about 2" of lift (shackles in back and torisons up front), removed bumpstops up front to let it sit a bit higher, although now i have camber issues. racing stripes, ansen sprints with 28" bfg all-terrains, rollbar from a mighty max (widened 4" to fit) bullbar (originally from a s10 blazer), some lights, and a jvc headunit with a blaupunkt 150 amp, boston tbx-9's and alpine 5x8's. the cb is all ready to go in.

pictures don't seem too be working, i keep getting error codes...any hints?
