Hey all I'm trying to replace my idler arm bushings. So far I managed to get the idler arm off however I can't seem to get the 1-1/4" nut on top of the shaft to budge, is it welded? Do I need to remove this nut to replace the bushings? I'm assuming so.

I can't remember for sure. What's on the other end of it. Is there a cover there? I think the large nut does hve to come off. I think I used a pipe wrench and cheater pipe on mine. It's not welded, just super tight. Hit it with penetrating oil once a day for a few days and add heat when trying to break it loose.

Thx for the response. I ended up just taking out the whole original mounting bracket and shaft and replacing it with one from a 85' trooper. Lined right up, all I had to do was drill the bolt holes out a bit larger.
