I bought a 79 luv 4x4 from a guy that said he rebuilt the motor, drove it home and it ran real nice, the trip was 331 miles and only used 11.08 gallons of gas. But then… I drove it down a nice and bumpy dirt road and it started running like crud. So I got my carb cleaner out and started spraying around and found an intake leak at the carb, noticed one of the bolts holding it on was a little loose and after a bit of fiddling I found the stud was stripped so I fixed it with a helicoil and bolted it back down and found it was still sucking a little air in between the two aluminum spacers between the top of the intake and the bottom of the carb. Only thing is looks like these spacers have been jb welded in place, is that normal practice?? And can I take the manifold off burn it off with a torch? I just don’t want to score the spacers trying to get the goop off cause I would like to re use them.
Thanks for any advice!
Matt

Buy a new adapter set. Loctite the allen screws in.they tend to loosen and leak.
