I have a 79 4x4 four speed, needs rings and rebuilt valves, if i were to put in a new engine instead of rebuilding the g180 what would i be able to directly put in that mates correctly to the transmission and transfer case

You could use a early Isuzu Trooper motor 1984-1986, It will bolt to the transmission. Not sure on the motor mounts through. That might need fabrication.
