My Grandma bought a 1976 luv from a guy in the 80's and it ran good for a while, then something happened to the gas pump, so they parked it in the garage and 30 years later me and my dad pulled it out and we're going to fix it up so that I would have a pickup. But we tested the compression and 1-4 heads are all around that 75, 80, mark. Dad said that it won't have any power and we'll leave the compression alone and fix whatever else is wrong with it, and just use it as a farm pickup.
Now my question is. Can I fix that and if I can how much will it cost and can we do it ourselves?
Thanks, Phantom

After sitting so long, get up and running for a while and see if the rings start sealing better and compression comes back up. If not, do a cylinder leak down test to see why it's low. Could be the head/valves, could be the head gasket. Any of these would just require removing the head to fix. It could be the rings which would also require removal of the head and engine to do a complete rebuild.
Just get it up and running and see how it runs and acts.
Good luck.
