Hello all,

I just acquired 2 1980 chevy luvs. I'm currently working on one of them. I just installed a rebuilt carburetor and got it to turn on. It wont stay on without me stepping on the gas. The other problem I discovered today is that I noticed sparks coming the solenoid area (see pic). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If it’s coming from that stud/nut then it’s loose. Also, a ground strap might be missing.

Thanks! Yes. It's coming from that area around that nut. Whoever had it added a ground battery cable but left the other one.

I forgot to mention that it does it when the car is on. Not just when starting. Possibly the same problem? I haven't tried tightening it. I will do that tomorrow and report back on my findings. thanks again

As luverv8 suggested above, it was a loose bolt on the starter.
