The Luv is NOT a GM product. It is 100% an Isuzu Faster KB pickup with a plastic Chevy emblem stuck on the grill and a "CHEVROLET" stamped into the tailgate. That is the full extent of GM's influence on the truck.
And with yours being a 4x4 (with an integrated transfer case and IFS) your engine transplant options (without doing a solid axle swap on the front and squeezing a transmission and transfer case in there somewhere) are limited to a 1.9L G200 engine out of an Isuzu Pup or Trooper or the 2.3L engine out of a Trooper.
That's pretty much it. I would imagine if you could get someone to CNC an adapter plate and machine up a coupler, you could put a different engine on the transmission, but then you'd still have to contend with the fact that the Luv axles aren't exactly the strongest on the market and the only real replacements are from a Trooper.
