Hey there, I have been looking for the right Luv to buy. When I was a kid my uncle had one and we rode everywhere with it. He eventually handed it down to my cousin who hot rodded it and it actually was his entry to custom painting (which he still does today). I finally found one and recently purchased it. Its from Washington and I bought it from the second owner who bought it as a slightly used truck off the local Chevrolet dealers lot in 1976. My plans are to swap to disc brakes in the front and add some five slot five lug wheels and lower it. To achieve the five lug conversion I will either re-drill the front rotors or have hubs made and in the rear I am going to do a rear end swap to a Chrysler 8 3/4 rear. The long term goal is to do a V8 swap and enjoy it. A little background on me, I am 45 years old I used to work as a heavy equipment mechanic and toward the end of that career I worked in a restoration shop (Fords and mostly Shelbys) and did a short stint at a chassis shop as a second job. Now I collect Mopar muscle cars that I restore myself and I do all the work myself. I also have been a racer for the last 29 years and I race a big tire twin turbo Dodge Dart. I am excited to be a part of this community and I have been trolling around this site trying to absorb as much info as possible.

Here are some pics of it.

Thanks for the info. He is local to me. I need to find a set of disc brakes to swap it over with and then send the rotors to him. Thanks for the info!!

I think Nelson sold the set up.

Yes the Dart is an awesome ride for sure! But, that Luv will be kick azz when you trick it out.
I am working on my first attempt on a Pro Street/ Drag Truck Luv and have found some good information on here with some helpful members here also! Good luck on your build!

Thanks Widetrack! My plans are to put a 400" small block in it lower it a bunch, do a 5 lug conversion, 5 slot US Mags, and drive it everywhere. OK and maybe some passes at the track with it.

Nice start for a project, looks straight. I personally prefer the solid rear window over the camper window, like mine came with. I may switch it out one day. By all means document your progress here for all to see and enjoy, for there is a great satisfaction in seeing another LUV enthusiast building his, or her, dream. :D

Nice lil truck moparchris. Keep us updated on the build and its not as hard as you think it will be. I have an 80 with about the setup your talking about and its a fun little truck to drive on the street. its a 408,9.5.1 compression, dart steel heads, hyd cam with a th350 and a 2800 stall. I strictly drive this on the street and its a blast. it has an s-10 rearend with 4:10. That dart is a sweet ride sir, theres not many out there anymore.

Thank you for the kind words sir. That is a perfect luv you have there. I am about to get started on mine to get it running (4 cylinder) and do the 5 lug conversion/disc brake/rearend swap. I am planning on starting a build thread.
