Hello, I am here on behalf of my daughter. If things pan out, she will be joining the group also. We are looking at a pretty clean 1978 Luv. I know these were made by Isuzu, but other than that, that is my knowledge on these little trucks. What should we look for, for common issues on these trucks? Any help on what to keep an eye on for a newbie to these would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Check for rust on the floorboards, rockers and frame by the front spring hangers of the rear axel. Stock carbs are hard to get right, if it runs a bit rough a Weber carb could be a good update. They have problems with overheating and blowing the head gasket, not all but it is somewhat common in the LUV world.

Corrosion on the fuse block. Very common source of electrical gremlins. A lot of radiators seem to be getting clogged since the trucks are around 40 years old now

For the record, this is the one my daughter is looking at. From the pictures it looks pretty clean. Runs, drives and stops. It is currently registered. It does need tires, but that is a given usually. The owner is off shore right now, but we should be able to go see it personally this next week.
