I'm sure this has been brought up multiple times but I did a quick search and didn't find the exact info I was looking for. My timing chain broke in my 1.8 in my 1980 LUV and I was gonna replace it but I've heard I might have to pull the motor. I'm just wondering if this is true or not. I have a 2.6 I'm going to swap in eventually and if I have to pull the 1.8 to do this then I'd rather put the money into the swap rather than into a timing chain set and put my old motor back in. So i'd just basically like to know if I have to pull the motor to do a timing chain set with new tensioner, gears, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

You don't have to pull the head. It can be done in the truck in a 2 we, a 4wd can not due to the oil pan hitting the front axel.

Well shit. Mine's 4wd. So i guess that means I'm pulling the motor lol. Sucks that it'll be a while before I can drive it but atleast it gives me an excuse to put my 2.6 in haha
