How can I find out if my 1979 LUV 4X4 Mikado is a federal or California model truck? It has an L4 1.8 gas engine.

Assuming it's there and the hood is the original, there should be a vacuum diagram under the hood. It'll say catalyst if it's a California truck.

I think mine says non catalyst. The bottom of the sticker is torn off. It would be great to get replacement stickers.

There are some tale tale signs if a 4X is a California model or not. On the 4X California models had the muffler where the spare tire was on the 49 state models, the spare tire was bolted to the bed behind the driver and the tail pile exited out the left side, 49 state trucks exited out the right side.

Above all it all comes down to the sticker on the hood.
