I have a 79 luv that will only stay running with the key in the start position. It happened all of a sudden. Thought it was the ignition switch so I replaced it and it's still doing the same thing. Please help

Check all your fuses and relays.

You have a open/bad ignition resistor on the coil. This is used in the run posistion but is bypassed in the start position.

I agree with the above post. Sounds like a bad ballast resistor. To test by pass it with a jumper wire.

This has been coming up her and on Facebook often in the last few months. I recomend removing the ballast resistor and stock coil, replace it with a universal internal ballast coil.
