Newbie hear, been drivin my 1979 luv mikado for a cupple of months now, picked it up for 200 and put a starter and new carb on it. Best deal iv ever gotten.

I do a lot of highway and i was wondering what would work the best for increasing my top speed. I want to keep my luv as original as i can, i was thinkin about changing the gears in the rear end to give that 4 speed a little more. Any suggestion would help.

After I put the v8 in mine I changed to a 373 Gear. The stock gear ratio was a 4.56 and it took off great but the top speed on the highway pegged the Tachaometer. Now I can do highway speeds at a comforatable RPM and my gas milage got better too. Keep in mind if you change the ratio and have the 4 cylinder motor it will take off much slower you will loose torque.
