I have found a '76 1.8 manual step side that I am thinking about picking up and wanted to ask a few questions before I do. The idea is to make it a fun blast around town little truck maybe try and maybe try autocross. Truck runs and is daily driven but has some minor issues with a coolant leak. I plan to save money to fund the project while fixing the small things. So my questions to you experts are below.

Are there any bolt in upgrades like poly bushings or performance shocks to help out handling?

Are spare parts fairly accessible, rock auto, jegs etc.?

How much should I expect to pay for a V8 swap if I do everything but welding and get used motor, trans, rear end?

Have people done turbo set ups?

This is the truck and i dig its vibe ($1500)

Video don't work...

1. Shocks can be found
2. poly bushings, I don't know of any.
3. Spare parts like body and interior are not readily available.
4.You can buy v8 swap kits that bolt in, no welding required.
5. turbos have been done

If you own one of these trucks, and plan to modify, race, etc. You need to be willing to search for/adapt what you need, and be mechanically inclined. There are many parts trucks in the classifieds here that are unfinished projects....

someone has mentioned there being some poly stuff for later Isuzu trucks that will work. im not sure of exact part numbers you will have to compare them visually as a start.

v8 as said above can be a bolt in deal pretty much especially with a th350 or 700r4

turbo on the 1.8L has been done and well documented on ozgemini.com the holden Gemini has a very similar engine and all the bolt on parts for them bolt on to our they jus have a 1.6 version of our engine, many use our 1.8 for turbo builds...

Looks kinda like my new stepside. I would bet your wheels are acutaly chrome underneath the paint. Nice start on a truck. Ask away. Their are groups for stock drive; drive lines• just look at the main forum root

Welcome
