Hey guys I have a 1974 mikado and I'm tired of the 4 speed tranny... anyone know what 5 speed I can swap it out for that won't required too much modifications?

No offense, bradybrat, but this question comes up often, and is perfect for our search engine, located at upper right.

You are looking for a Isuzu MSG 5 speed transmission, preferably from a 86-87 Isuzu Pup, but there are other donor vehicles as well.

Here is a link to the search in question: search.php?keywords=5+speed&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

You should find all the answers you need in there.

That fit the early engines?

Is it really 75 or later for the 5 speed swap??

I realize the starter bump and the clutch switch sides at a certain point, but don't all the years have essentially the same bolt pattern? Are Series 1-3 transmissions different?

Thanks... does it matter what transmission model? Like MSG-5E, MSG-5ET, MSG-5K, MSG-5T

It has to be the later G180 engine. The flat valve cover engine. The early engine with the pyramid looking valve cover has a differant transmission bolt pattern.
