I recently purchased a 1979 Chevy Luv and I want to fix it up for my baby bro. I have taken the truck apart and have begun the body work. My biggest question is what motor should I put in it? I love the 4x4 but would enjoy the diesel and more power. I have found a few motors but have no clue which one would fit the best, which one would bolt into my 4x4?

The 2.2l from 81 would bolt in but your desire for more power would not be fulfilled. 58hp is better suited for mileage than racing. :-)

Best of luck in your quest.

Glad you started your own topic. The '86 2.3 would be gas and 4wd, but not a huge power increase.

As Eric said, the 2.2 diesel would fit, but if you're 4wd on IFS, you'll have oil pan clearance issues. It's a 2wd engine, according to the image you posted.
