I always ran my weber with a filter with a return line and no regulator. Never had a problem with it. I'm not saying it is the "Right" way, but it worked. The truck my first Weber came from also had no return line or regulator and it ran without issues. If the pressure is too great it should just push fuel out of the carb bowl and out the vents on the top of the carb. (just forward of the two barrels, covered by the air filter)

When I originally set mine up I just looked through the generic filters at the parts store for one with the correct inlet and outlet sizes that also had a smaller sized outlet coming off to the side. The part I used ended up being a smallish metal canister style filter. Then I put that in up by the carb where you have the clear filter and hooked the smaller line to the fuel return line that should come up near where your fuel line is now.

Like I said, I wouldn't say it is correct, but it worked well for me on two different trucks with two different Weber carbs.

i found another luv guy close by (via craigslist) and he invited me over to scope my truck....

he found my carb was leaking air pretty bad so we took it apart and put new gaskets in, tightened everything, tuned the carb and adjusted the throttle.... and holy hell this thing is a beast!!!!!

we lifted her up to tighten the muffler (brackets) i was getting an annoying rattle when i stopped the engine. He was super surprised that there was no rust anywhere!!!!

going back over this week to swap the points ignition to an electric unit...and that gosh darn fuel pressure regulator (driving great without one)

this guy rules, if your in the seattle area and need any work done/parts (has heaps of luv stuff).... hit me up and ill pass along his contact! hes a member but rarely logs in i guess.
