Hey Hello Everyone! Time for me to step out into the light and introduce myself. I'm Patrick and earlier this year purchased a 1980 Chevy Luv Truck off Ebay. It's a 2 wheel drive manual trans, light blue, with a long bed, lots of rust spots and dents. It just kept calling my name and I couldn't get it out of my mind, so I bought it and had it shipped up here to Ohio from Arkansas. It's been parked in the garage since early May. I really need to decide what I'm going to do with it? I'm looking for some advice, perhaps someone who knows the 1st Gen Luvs and lives anywhere near me, to take a look at it and tell me if it's worthy of restoring or to sell off for parts. I don't know anything about restoring an old truck to decent stock condition, but I'm very willing to bust my hump working on it, and seeking the knowledge and wisdom from other Luv owners. I'm in Northwest Ohio, Toledo area. Please let me know I need to move it outside soon to store it over the winter.

Im nowhere near you but the longbeds are fairly rare. If your willing to put in the wrench time these trucks are incredibly simple to work on its easy to get to everything important. You should post some pics of your truck
Welcome to the site. You will find all the information you will ever need about your truck and plenty of guys with the knowledge to help with troubleshooting here.

You might consider utilizing a local community college and enrolling in a class for basic automotive repair. There are lots of CC's in Ohio. It could help you develop some basic confidence in tackling the LUV, which is a pretty simple little truck, and give you a support group for those "could the problem be this?" questions...
Good luck and welcome to our little group. If you enjoy the challenges it can be great therapy, or if you let it, it can give you an ulcer!

Thanks for the support guys! I'm basically trying for now to determine what kind of overall shape this truck is in, the frame, engine, transmission, body, then start planning out how I'm going to resolve any issues found. I've read back on a lot of other members restoration threads and seen some incredible work being done on their trucks. Everyone here has a real passion for the Luv trucks, and a sense of community trying to help others. I'll try to get some pictures posted for anyone to look over, which forum is best to post in for that? I don't want to take up space in the wrong topic area, especially till I get more specific questions.

The projects/builds subforum would be the best place...
