I have an '80 LUV and was wondering what grease I should put in my steering gear box. I noticed a square fill plug on the top and was wondering if maybe a gear oil or something was supposed to be in it. It is very hard to steer so I am guessing it has nothing in it. If anyone has the answer please let me know. Thank you all. JOSH

FSM says 90w gear oil, so use whatever you would use in your differential.

The problem is where did the oil go? It does not evaporate, therefore I would think it leaked out.

I don't see anywhere where it could have leaked but that's a good possibility. The guy I bought it from let it sit for 5 years. I have replaced almost everything on the truck and engine. I'm in the process of lifting it. Does anyone have ideas on lifting? The only thing I can think of is a body lift, because I don't wanna switch the front end out with a Toyota.
