I have three old stock radios and all the parts to get one installed in my 1981 LUV. The problem is that I can't get any one of them to work. The wire seems to be hot - it sparks when you cross hot with neutral - but I can't get any response. It seems unlikely that all three are defective....is there any trick to getting a LUV radio to work?

Any thoughts appreciated.

No. The "hot" wire should be switched, not constant.

I don't remember if the factory radio had illumination that was wired into the instrument lighting, or if it lit up when turned on...but is it possible you're connecting power to the lighting connection?

I've got the radio working.....the only problem now is I can't get any reception. Is this a common problem on these old LUVs? Would it be worth considering an aftermarket antenna? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks, PJ
