The easiest way to figure out the cab year is to pull the cowl off (the part the windsheild wiper arms go through) and the VIN should be stamped on the drivers side. It could be the passenger side depending on the year, but there must be a VIN number there. You can switch cabs here in California but it takes a lot of work with DMV. The real thing they are concerned about is the year of the frame,

Hello, I have been following this post. I just bought a 76 LUV 4X4. It has IFS and a unit type transmission and transfer case. Jethro came by today and said the set up looks just like his. the VIN on the title and truck match up but is there a VIN on the frame somewhere? I can not find anything on the truck that shows a after market 4X4 installation tag.

I'm suspecting somebody may have done a cab swap along with the grill and headlights, perhaps due to rust/body damage or they preferred the 76 look a little better. I could not tell what kind of lockers you have but they are definitely different from mine.
