My key ignition wont turn the starter. I believe it's because I have a wire missing.



I can arc the contacts with a screwdriver and start the truck, but I'd rather use my key. Haha.

The black with white stripe wire activates the starter solenoid. The red one looks like someone added for something. It is on a terminal that only has power when the starter is cranking.
If no crank, check the clutch switch operation.

Thanks, egg. Where is the clutch switch located? (1978) I can't find even a mention of it in my Haynes manual.

EDIT/UPDATE: Well, I don't know what I did, but after wiggling some wires (under the dash by the ignition, around the clutch pedal, and so on), the dang thing turned over with the key!

Looks like I may have some electrical projects in my future.

And I think I found the clutch switch. Is it the contact switch on the pedal itself?

Yes, located on the clutch pedal/arm itself, usually green wire.
