I have built this truck with my son, but the 14 in rally rims will not allow a wider tire and I am wondering if it will make any difference if I switch to 15 in tires with a off set rim to get wider tires. The 14s just get roasted, no traction. Any ideas?

15s would give you a lot more choices for wheels and tires
with that much power i would be looking for the widest tire i could fit in the wheel wells

Does it still have the factory rear axle ? 6 lug ? Wheel vintiques can custom build any wheel to your spec for reasonable . The tire will effect bite more than rim size . I have seen a guy go crazy fast on a 26 x 9 x 14 slick . A set of 235/60/15 drag radials will change things for sure . I prefer 275/60/15 . What gear is in the truck ?
