Hey guys, im have been looking at a couple luvs i have found for sale.
Found one i think i like, it has a relitively new motor but was told it needs a valves replaced. I guess the valve rod got bent.
I plan on doing as much of the work as i can but im still learning. What kind of prodject will this be time and expense wise?

thanks Guys

You want to tell us which motor it was? That might make a difference.

G200Z is 1.9L, there were two different 1.8L engines, so you still haven't identified the engine. If you have a bent valve then you need to have the head checked by a machine shop and replace what needs replacing. And you need to determine what caused the failure & fix the cause or it will happen again.

sorry about that, I ment to put an "or" between those two engines. Its either a replacement 1.8, or the G200z. I need to read over my post better. I appologize.

Maybe I am slow, but I figure a day to take the head off, a day at the machine shop, and a day to put it back together. Spend the day the head is at the shop cleaning parts. Perhaps those that have done more of them are quicker. Taking extra time to loosen manifold nuts rather than twist them off is a big time saver.

A broke timing chain will take out the valves. You should check out the gear, tenesoner, and all the timing stuff. I have been there done that. Missed some other part other than the chain. Had to pull the engine to replace it on a 4x4, but I understand there are ways to cheat. My service book said to pull the engine. Bent valves the second time too:(

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
