there is a '79 luv 2x4 stepside that is mechanically perfect, body is strait and little rusted but no rust through spots. front end has been rewired and has been very well taken care of. i cant remember if its a manual or automatic. the seller has owned and sold 3 luvs. the lowest he is willing to sell for is $2200. he claims it gets lower 30's mpg city. its smogged and legal.

is this a good buy? and do well maintained luvs get 30+ mpg city regularly

i would have no problem believing a well running luv would get 30MPG in town if you kept you foot off the floor.
and if it is in good shape it sounds like a good buy to me. wiring is a problem on a lot of luvs so a bit of rewiring is probably going to be needed but it is all really easy to follow.

the seller did say that rewiring on luvs is highly recommended because of problems.
