Hey guys, I recently bought two 79’ 4x4 Luvs for a deal I couldn’t refuse. One of them was a “parts” truck but it’s relatively complete and the body is in better shape than the one that supposedly ran 2 years ago. The guy I got them from had done some Mickey Mouse crap to the wiring, fuse box, relays, added switches in the cab, weird light strips etc. Anyway, Day 1 I get the one to turn over just for 10 seconds or so and it sounded really good. After it died I noticed a wire at the battery that had gotten really hot and started to smoke. So I cleaned/repaired all of my connections and grounds and since that first day I haven’t been able to get it to turn over again. I’m not getting spark now, so I replaced the plugs and began running through the rest of the ignition system. The points are clean, the condenser works as it should(multimeter test), the ballast resistor shows 1.7 ohms and the coil shows 1.5 ohms of resistance at the primary and 9.27 at the secondary.
My question is, do these numbers on the coil seem correct? They seem low to me but I don’t have anything to compare it to.

This forum is pretty much dead now except for the wealth of info previously posted. Try searching for what might help you, or join some face book groups for LUVs. That's where people are these days.
