It's hardly too heavy. It's been done countless times. Check out the v8 swap article here ----> http://www.luvtruck.com/pdf/EngSwap.pdf

What you loose in weight, you will make up in $$$$. What are you trying to accomplish that almost 100 lbs would hurt? Don't get me wrong, an LSx type swap would be great if you can afford it.

Either way, check http://www.powerbyace.com out.

Older 350 stuff is becoming more pricey but if your looking for a "cheap motor" look at wrecked Chevy Trucks and look at Buick RoadMasters as both come with LT motors and some of the RoadMasters had LS motors. Bought my last two RoadMasters for $800 and $1000 both drivers with strong motors.

100 pounds is a lot of weight? Ever carried a passenger in your car?

This site has a plethora of information on small block swaps if you take the time to look through it. Companies make kits for the small block swap. If you're looking for cheap, you probably shouldn't be looking for an ls. The truck can withstand the weight of a sbc just fine.
