what is the simplest swap for a few more horsepower (not extreme) and 5-speed tranny for a 1979 luv 4x4 without going with S.A.S?

Stock engine? Cam, headers, carb will all help a bit.
The 5sp needs to come from an '86 or '87 Trooper or 4x4 pickup with the 2.3 engine.
