Well, my distributor swap didn't go as easy as I expected...no sparky sparky no more. I replaced everything associated, cap, rotor, wires, coil. The truth is, auto electrics are a mystery to me, even though I'm a passable mechanic. Anyhow, just wondering if there were any Luvers in or near Austin who might help me out or recommend a good local mechanic. I'm banking that it's something simple that I'm just not clueing into. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you might be a tooth off or two when you put your distributor back in.

Could be...though when I put it at TDC the rotor was at #1. I forgot to mention I replaced fuel pump/ filter and did the fuse box fix prior to the dizzy. The only thing out of the ordinary was my ballast resistor had the BY and RY jumpered together. It was my understanding that it was probably that way to bypass a faulty relay. I just moved them both to the coil and eliminated the ballast resistor as search indicated it was redundant with an electronic distributor.

Doesn't time off of #1. I don't do stockers, but I think it is #4. If you have access to a manual, be sure to look...

Manual says 1 or 4. Maybe I got it 180ed? I scribed a line off the casting seam of the old dizzy and put the new one in with the same rotor orientation as per the instructions I got with it. It was a reman from rockauto, not a junkyard pick. I think it's something I goofed wiring wise, not any of the components or timing. I wired the BR off the new dizzy to the coil- and grounded the black to the fender underneath the coil mount.
