So i was running 30" BFG all terains on my LUV for a while. I decided to take em off in favor of a smaller tire so i could flex the truck better and i didnt realy like the wet road traction of thos guys. So i whent with a set of Cooper discoverer LTs (215/75 15). they fit well and clean out in mud about as well maybe a little better than the bfgs. Well heres the problem, the Coopers are chunking out! 8O
Now i abused the BFGs ALOT more than the Coopers and the Coopers have maybe half the millage the BFGs had on em when i sold em. I dont know i guess im just a little upset becouse i thought i was going with a better tire but i was wrong. So now that my rants over im going back to the good old BFGs i think and ill be throughing the coopers away :x

Can i say i told you so????

I know from personal experience that Coopers are crap, nothing but BFG's for my truck (unless i manage to get a set of GY MTR's on there  )

I'm not very happy with the all terrain BFGs on my Trooper. In the mud they track like racing slicks, and don't seem to be wearing any too well on the road either.

I really liked the Cooper Discoverers I had on my 79 LUV when I sold it. With 35k on them they still had better than 50% tread. They were an all terrain so not really super great in the mud and snow, but always got me out of what I got into. I don't remember seeing even a single chunk missing out of them either.

I'm sort of torn on my next tire, I am temped to go back to Les Schwab Wildcat LT/Wild Country AT like I used to always get for my 2WD LUV (still running the remains of a set on it now) but I've had quite few problems their service so it would only be for the tires.

well the wildcat allseasons are made by cooper (they are discoverer LTs) Thats the actual tire im running right now. And see the problem im having is the sipes in the treadblocks are whats chunking out and it only a matter of time before i start ripping the blocks off. My thinking is becouse the rubber is alot softer than the BFGs were.
I know what your talking about for off road stuff 800, the BFG A/Ts do pack up perty quick so you have to have your foot down with em. But this realy is the story with any A/T tire. As far as wear, Troopers are perty heavy for the size tires they run so that would be my reasoning behind your poor tire wear. Does anyone have any experience with Yokohamas? I was looking at thier Geolander AT II and it looks like it would work perty well. That and its $15 cheaper per tire than the BFGs. That or they make a directional 30" wich i think would just look cool on the LUV

The Yokohama's are what Discount Tire recommended for me to put on my Dakota, to replace my Bridgestone Duellers.
He said that they are a very good tire, with very good feedback from customers (but he was a salesman LOL ).

I really like my Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos. They handle well on road, and stick well off road.

I climbed some snowy hills that guys with more serious rigs couldn't handle.

thats what i have heard about the Revos. The Coopers have awsome tractiona and everything its just the compound is a little soft and i have been playing on dry pavement
I dont realy have money right now so i probly just have to wear these guys out, but the more i think about it the more i kinda think that the few spots that are chunking out are probly from me rallying the luv on pavement

I have BFG a/t's on my powerstroke 4x4, not impressed one is so out of true I have weights half way around the tire. The Jeep has swampers, they work offroad, noisy, flat spot overnight, not very driver friendly. You might look into Mickey Thompson MTX, still radial all terrain, but aggressive enough. Priced pretty reasonable.

I had BFG's on my Suburban years ago and did not like them. I think mine were out of true also. I had a set of duelers on it once and was VERY happy with them.
The Revos, from what I've seen are very good.
I had pretty good luck with a cooper highway truck tire on my F 250 and was happy.
Right now I have a set of Perrelli (spelling?) Scorpions and am very happy with them. Very good traction, even in the rain.
