Well the way gas is now, i wont be able to afford a v-8 in my luv. Right now the 20mpg i get out of it is about all i can afford, and i doubt an sbc will be able to get 20mpg. So i have been thinging about things, and what about swaping in a small diesle. Has anybody done this becouse if i remeber corectly i think the diesle luvs get around 25-30mpg. Thanks guys.

I used to drive a Izusu Pup Diesel at a previous job as the delivery truck. On the highway that thing got almost 40mpg! It was incredible.

Of course the horsepower was unimpressive.

As for the V8, Derek has a mild smog-legal V8 in his and I think he gets respectable mpg numbers. I think there was a post about it.

i have thought about going whith a small v-8. Do you guys think a 283 would get perty good milage. Im just asking becouse im going to moving out in a bit and i can barley afford gas for both my trucks right now (the stupid ford gets 16 if im lucky). But realy im happy whith the way my luv drives now so i just flat out might not whant a bigger motor (shoot me i like the reliability)

i know how u feel about the gas...my dakota gets around 12mpg if i drive lightfooted  . Gas here went up like 30cents just this last week...i spent about $5 more last night than i did a week ago   :2gunfire: I really need to get my luv dependable enough to drive to work, hopefully it'll get beter mileage than the dodge cause its about 1000 lbs less
