Well im getting under way on my drag truck project. So far I have just cleaned it down to a bare metal, and it is coming apart. Found some rot in the floors, but after a through inspection the bulkheads that attatch the cab to the frame are not damaged in any way, just the floor pan is wasted. So structuraly what is left is still strong, just ugly. After the roll cage is all in I will go back and clean the areas and patch the floor with some fiberglass patches. The truck will have plenty of strength, but the rules say no holes in the floor.

So far I have acquired a used set of hooker super comp headers, and a new set of hooker engine and trans mounts from Mike on here at Racecars unlimited in Nashville GA. As well I have scored a couple of 350 short blocks, a turbo tranny, some JE forged pistons, a 4340 crank, and some other items are being collected as I find the deals. Right now my plan is to just throw a budget 'claimer' motor together. My plans to build a big block went on the back burner when I sold the short block, and that enabled me to get alot of other parts including the roll cage. But I have enough parts I can slap a decent small block together and just get it going. Im narrowing a ford 9" and looking at a nice complete nodular center section with a 31 spline locker and gears for under 700.


After the holiday I will get going on the cage construction when I can get it under cover and out of the rain! lol

I also want to say how insturmental this website has been for this project! Thanks to bodyman on here for giving the truck to me for one, roadshow bob has been combing the entire western seaboard trying to find me straight sheet metal parts, and a 350 short block!, 75 V8LUV (Gabe) and I plan to swap some work as he is a skilled racer/builder! Now I told Gabe that anyone that helps out with this project in any way, get dibs to drive it at the track, so it should be a fun project. Should run high tens on a small shot of nitrous at least, but im looking at maybe alky and some boost later on to try something new.
