Being on dialup and not very patient I haven't see the vid, but it sounds like those tires from Michelin with open ribs across them instead of air pressure. If someone was a good enough engineer, they could design an adjustment into them. Something that would let you change the pitch of the ribs to effectively change the "pressure". I personally like the idea, no more flats and you could engineer them so you could replace just the outer tread cap. Studded winter tread caps, mud grip caps, slicks, have a tire for all uses. Plus when you decide to go on a crime spree spike strips would be useless.
