Welp, a new twist on the old problems. I have a 76 with a 77 engine with all the tubing set up for the 76. The old engine died (when we took it apart the compression rings disentergrated in hand) and I put the carb that was on my 76 engine on the 77.
It was running great up until the oil pressure switch blew out taking out the starter and orifice. I replaced the starter with a new one and put a new EGR orifice on her.
Now she starts and runs really rough (she ran fine up until I replaced the old head gasket since I had it all apart. She started fine after that. She waited a day for new oil and a change in antifreeze, when she got it she started spitting, sputtering, and choking. The distributor has carbon on the button, the plugs are fouled. I have been all over the engine with my anal-retentive detail to the vacuum and other lines and I have got to the point where I am stumped.
I have checked the carb, and when she stalls she shoots gas all the way up to the windshield when I take the cover off.
Anyone can help, I would appreciate it. I have to use it to go to work on Tuesday and it ain't looking too good!
