I come home from my last day at my summer job and helped dad milk the cows and I've been wanting to lower the front of my truck a little bit. Start in and one of the skid plate (the one off my 4x4 parts that I made fit) snapped off. No big deal, its right there and not too hard to fix. Got the pass. side 12 turns had it sitting where I liked it and started on the driver. Got it 8 turns and the dang bolt snapped. Wow, this sucks. Guess I get to go talk to my mechanic tomm morn and see if I can get him to fix the thing. right now its sitting in our shop on some wood blocks otherwise it rides on the bottom of the shock. Now how the heck am I going to get this thing to town? :(

DId you jack up your truck and take the weight off it? That what I had to do with the older Dodge Dart I had. The torsorn bars can snap. At least on my Dodge. I would try it like that. I am sure some guys that lowered them like that will chime in.

ya, i had it off the tires and lubed the heck out of it with wd40. Took it in today and got it back a few hours ago. He called me about noon and told me to cut the bolt out of my parts truck and bring it in and hell clean it up and put it back in there. I guess it wasn't too big of a deal but man, it really torqued me off last night

I snapped the bolt on my 79 4x4 after I first got it. The prior owner had it cranked until it was tight against the bump stops so I dropped it about an inch to get a little travel. One side turned pretty easy, the other didn't move until the bolt snapped. Even though the torsion bar setup is a little different on a 4x4, the adjuster bolts are the same as a 2WD so I had a replacement.

This is exactly why you should either suspend the frame or at least put blocks under it to catch it when adjusting torsion bars. If you are under the truck when one of them lets go you might end up squashed like a bug.

There is somestuff called PB Blaster or something like that. Available at your FLAPS. It really break rusted stuff loose. WD40 is water compaired to it.

WD40 doesn't lube that well.

PapaG is right, PB Blaster is the schtuff. I use that on everything. When it comes to getting stuff loose, it works as much better than wd40 as a hot wrench (torch) works better than a plain old metal wrench.

It also smells nicer, a little like oranges.

I think it's PB Blaster that I have. It's excellent stuff. I don't like the smell of it and it lingers in the garage for quite a while.
My wife always asks, (nose wrinkled up), "What it that smell!!??"

garage? What's that? j/k I still have to do a lot of stuff under the shade tree, in the dirt.

Oh I remember what a garage is. That where all long term project and all the other junk goes...

Yea, my garage was like that for a long time. Then we got my wife the new car and she headed up the project. EVERYONE GET YOUR BUTTS OUT HERE NOW! WE ARE CLEANING OUT THE GARAGE FOR MY NEW CAR. We all jumped and got it done. The kids and I learned a long time ago. When Carol yells, you better get up and do it.

PB Blaster (also sold as "Blaster") and Kroil (also sold as SiliKroil, AeroKroil and several others) are about the best in the industry... WD40 doesnt even stand a chance to these two...
