does any one have a v8 with auto and s-10 rear end. that can tell me what kind of mileage their getting.
right now i am get 8.2mpg with stock rear end (witch seems to be about 4.8 to 1 . and a small 400 and th350. i am doing 2600rpms at 40 mph.
i would like to try to get it to 14 mpg. even if i have to buy a overdrive unit. do the s-10 rear ends come in diff ratios?
has anyone dont this??

I have a s-10 with a 350 V8, 700r4, 4WD on 36" tall tires and i'm getting between 12-15 MPG with an s-10 rear (4.10 gears) your rearend can't possibly be 4.8 to 1 because the s-10 rear will only carry up to 4.56 gear ratios. usually a stock s-10 rear will carry 3.73 or 3.45 gears in the 4wd and even taller gears in the 2wd. check out any local custom shop or store for new ring and pinion sets to buy. hey wanna buy some 3.73's from me, just a few chipped teeth :P
