The July issue of Car and Driver is a 50th Anniversary issue. Here's what they had to say about the Luv:

"an intergalactically awful pickup called he Chevy LUV, which goes on to become famous for rusting even as it sits in disembarkation lots at seaports"

Guess they weren't too impressed.

The story about the rust may or may not be true. I think if it were as widely spread as they want you to believe, there would have been a recall of some kind. Whether you have a Rolls Royce, or a Chevy Luv, the metal will rust if exposed to the elements. What actually happened, or didn't happen is anybody's guess. I don't think G.M. would have gone for rusted trucks being sold for new. Come to think of it, I never met anyone who would buy a brand new rusted truck.
Who can doubt what Car and Driver magazine has to say. When it comes to being the elite and the sophisticated they are certainly full of it.
