I went to Municipal Court today to pay a ticket. First off, i'm guilty. I ran thru a red light going from Ave D on to Hwy 190. I was following the Christmas rush traffic and saw the light too late. I went for the brakes but there's no way i'd stop in time so i rolled thru the intersection. Luckily the traffic kept me from charging on down the road and compounding the problem. I knew the cops dad but that didn't help. I couldn't talk my way out of it. The ticket cost me 150 DOLLARS!!!(U.S. currency) So everybody be cool when you drive. Tickets aint cheap!

OUCH!!! 8O
thing i hate about tickets is, the fine is only a small fee. the other 75% of the ticket is court cost. that you have to pay even if you dont take it to court

that and those f*ckin seatbelt laws :fist:

Hey guys,
Atleast a real life human being wrote the ticket. There are more and more of those intersections with cameras. No ifs ands or buts about those things,
Catch the end of a yellow at 3a.m. with noone in site for miles and WHAM! certified letter in the mail with a nice form feed printout of a nice ticket that nobody but you and the computer even knew about.
:x

just curious, were you driving the luv. did u floor it.

Was this REALLY the fault of the yellow light, or was it an excuse to mash the petal, to the utter dismay of the pathetic onlookers.

some time in the future everyone should post any tickets they have got in their trucks.

LOL  Thats friggin Cove for ya. The problem with Texas is that the ticket only cost him 25 dollars but the rest of the money is for TAXES!!!! Honestly I got a ticket in Cove for Hmmmm.... What did they call it OH YEAH Exhibition of acceleration for all us normal folk Smoking the friggin tires!!!! Anyway The ticket was $95 dollars 8O Well I got to looking at the ticket after they gave it to me and the actual ticket was only 30 dollars the other 65 went to county taxes , brigde and road tax, and on other thing I cant think of right now. So I was really freaking out I couldnt friggin believe it luckily my dad was :drinking: buddies with one of the judges in Town there Meanie and he dismissed the ticket.... Lol I told him my foot slipped off the clutch and there just happened to be a cop about two cars away that saw me. I told him It wasnt intentional   ( yeah right). So I got kinda lucky on that one.

that doesn't beat my last ticket. Early last year, I was driving a lumber truck and I didn't have my CDL yet. DOT stopped me for speeding in a construction zone with workers present. $433. Then he asked for my license. I promptly gave him my regular license, and he wrote me another ticket for operating a commercial vehicle without a proper license. He wouldn't tell me how much it was, but he said that it was mandatory that I appear in court. I show up, and they tell me it's a 8O $5000 fine 8O , but the judge told me he didn't want to mess with it and since I got my CDL between the time I got my ticket and when I went to court, they let me off.

Talk about a weight off your shoulders..... :o

Dang drummer, that was close. That woulda hurt.

My dad is a heavy equipment operator so I've heard about how rediculous those fines are. Luckily the few citations he's collected were covered by the company he works for.

I'm going to spare everyone and not talk about my feelings about cops.

In August 2001 I had a sort of bad day at work and came home jumped in the Luv ( I had JUST bought it and it had a 350 in it ). I stopped at a intersection and had to wait several minutes on traffic before I could pull out onto the main hwy. I looked behind me when I pulled up to the stop sign but between the time I stopped and the time I took off can you guess who had joined the waiting line a couple of cars back!
3 tickets
#1 Wreckless driving Got a real good 2nd gear!
#2 No registration I had just bought it the day before
#3 No seat belts it didn't have any in it at all
I had worked on police cars for a living for 15 years and had to pull a bunch of strings!
I got a receipt for some seat belts and registered it before the court date.
Still had to go to court and pay court cost around $70.00 but at least it didn't go on my record.
Lesson to be learned here look one last time before you turn it lose.

Yeah I got pulled over there one time too They just love to sit in the old wal- mart parking lot and clock people. They tried to say that I was speeding, I told him that I wasnt speeding It was te guy next to me who was trying to beat the red light who FLEW by me!!! 8O I mean I know he pulled me over cause I had a lowered truck and big fat meaty Mickey T's on the back and of course like every other truck in Cove it was loud as fuck. But he thought I was some punk ass kid who was out hotrodding, when in all reality they guy in the other car was speeding and he let him just go 8O friggin cove cops for ya!!!!

one of the worst tickets i ever got was in my first luv, (81 2wd)
was running late for work, blasting ass down the highway, popped over top of a hill, and BAM right there right b4 my exit, is about 8 highway patrol cars flaging cars down. YEP they had a "bear in the air"
bastards got me running 78 in a 55, expired temp tag, blown brake light, and no seatbelt (lied and said it didnt have them when i bought it, asshole made me raise my seat and there they was  )
all in all $220 i think it was.
worst thing was the fact that i had a CB in the truck and could have avoided the whole mess if i would've it on :x

FIGHT BACK FIGHT BACK FIGHT BACK Many tickets are beatable , and many are illegal I have faught almost all tickets I have had and never lost . 50mph in 35 zone got off reseach showed many 35mph zones illegal due to no safety survey done
crossing double yellow lines got off double lines had breaks in line due to road works . I could go on but I am a safe driver and rarely get stopped and it's always in a revenue raising trap so fight back
The best I saw in court was a nice guy who on being found guilty said ''I will not compound the oficers lies and your mistake by paying the fine , put me in jail if you must '' the judge offered a lower fine to which he said ''if I payed one penny I would be condoning an injustice '' the judge put him in the holding glass booth for 11/2 hours and let him go I won my case that day I believe in doing the right thing if I'm wrong , suck it up and pay the fine if not fight to the end remember We the People
